American River Charter School (ARCS) is an independent study/homeschool school option of the Black Oak Mine Unified School District serving students Black Oak Mine USD, El Dorado County, and the adjacent counties of Placer, Sacramento, and Amador. We serve students in grades TK -12. We are Parent-Driven, Teacher Supported. Many of our students participate in a variety of vendor classes and educational field trips.

For students from Transitional Kindergarten through High School, we offer programming delivered through a variety of methods, including homeschooling support, cooperative classes, small group instruction, tutoring, online classes, and community college classes for high school students.  Our learning centers, located in Nevada City, Truckee, Auburn, and Foresthill, serve students and families throughout Placer, Sierra, Yuba, and Nevada Counties in California. 
Harvest Ridge provides two unique programs for our students. The Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School campus offers mixed grade classes for grades Kindergarten through Eighth Grade in a small, rural setting. Harvest Ridge Home Study Program provides an individualized, personal home study experience for students in grades Transitional Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, with the opportunity for Enrichment activities on our school campus and monthly field trip opportunities. Heritage Peak Charter School is a free public charter school that offers personalized homeschooling and independent study for students in Sacramento, West Sacramento, Rio Linda, and Vacaville. Independent Study resource centers in Rio Linda, West Sacramento, and Vacaville. Homeschooling is available across Sacramento and the adjacent counties. South Sutter Charter School (SSCS) is a WASC accredited charter school managed by Innovative Education Management (IEM). The school is part of the IEM family of parent choice charter schools that thousands of families have chosen for their children in grades K through 12 since 1993. SSCS was approved as an independent study charter by the California Department of Education in 2005. The school serves students in Sutter, Butte, Colusa, Placer, Sacramento, Yolo, and Yuba counties. Parents work with a California credentialed teacher to develop individualized learning opportunities by: choosing home-based or community based instruction, select individualized curriculum based on learning style and functioning grade level, providing materials, resources and supportive instruction, promoting real-life context-based learning. Sutter Peak Charter Academy is a free public charter school that offers home schooling students in Sutter, Colusa, Placer, Yolo, and Yuba Counties an educational experience that is personalized to each student. 
The Cottonwood School is a tuition-free public charter school. We offer dynamic homeschooling pathways for TK-12, a uniquely personalized, whole-learner approach that nurtures academic, social, and emotional achievement. Additionally, we offer a Montessori-inspired high school hybrid pathway at our El Dorado Hills campus. We serve El Dorado, Amador, Alpine, Placer, and Sacramento counties.
