Reading Lab

November 5 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

Reading Lab with Ms. Christina is where young readers learn to think, connect, and share—all through the joy of books. Designed for ages 6–13, this class blends the best parts of a relaxed book club with the gentle structure of a literature class.

Each week, students bring a book they’re currently reading or excited to start and have the opportunity to share about it in a fun, encouraging group setting. Through guided discussion, Ms. Christina naturally weaves in key reading comprehension skills and literary elements—such as character, setting, plot, and theme—helping students strengthen understanding without the pressure of written assignments.

This approach is especially powerful for struggling writers or pre-writers, giving them space to practice important literacy skills through speaking and discussion. Every class ends with a read-aloud from a classic novel thoughtfully chosen for this age group, introducing students to timeless stories and inspiring deeper conversations about what makes great literature.

Reading Lab nurtures confident readers, thoughtful communicators, and a lifelong love of stories—all in a peaceful, engaging environment where kids feel heard and inspired.

Recommended ages for this class are 6 to 13. Kids should be able to sit in a chair or on the floor for about 20 to 30 minutes, and allow all students the ability to participate, hear, and understand the teacher.
