Lego Masters – Ages 7 to 12

May 12 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Get your brick on in this Lego build challenge class that combines engineering challenges with some friendly competition. LEGO Masters Exploration Lab is a hands-on engineering and design program where students use LEGO bricks as a serious building tool rather than just a toy. Each session presents structured design challenges that require planning, testing, problem-solving, and redesign as students explore concepts from architecture, mechanical design, physics, and creative engineering.
Students work through rotating build missions such as timed design challenges, partner builds, constraint-based builds (limited pieces, required features, or specific functions), and open engineering problems. Challenges may include building stable towers, moving mechanisms, bridges, vehicles, marble runs, creature designs, and functional machines that must meet real performance criteria.

Throughout the lab, students practice the engineering design process: defining problems, developing solutions, testing prototypes, identifying failures, and improving designs. Emphasis is placed on spatial reasoning, collaboration, perseverance, and communicating design ideas — all within a highly engaging, build-centric environment.
