A Unique Academic Enrichment Program for Ages 6+

Our Kids D&D class is a specially designed version of the D&D interactive tabletop roleplaying game. We have designed this class to specifically support core academic skills through collaborative storytelling, problem solving, and applied reasoning—all while students immerse themselves in a fantasy world alongside peers.

This is a special format designed for younger students to begin playing right away – getting to the academic value immediately while building friendships through a unique and engaging experience.

Each meetup will begin with a specific character type with character sheets partially developed. Students will use critical thinking to expand on traits and backstories as they develop the remaining aspects of their characters. When finished, each student will present their character to the group, supporting oral communication and presentation skills aligned with California ELA Speaking and Listening Standards (SL.1–5).

As the team then works together to navigate story-based challenges, students engage in strategic thinking, map reading, and applied mathematics—rolling dice, calculating outcomes, budgeting resources, and using numerical reasoning throughout. These activities align with Common Core Math Standards in Operations & Algebraic Thinking, Measurement & Data, and Numbers & Base Ten (1.OA–5.NBT).

Students are lead through cooperative, escape room-style gameplay which fosters collaboration, decision-making, and group problem solving, supporting Social Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies and California Health Education Standards for interpersonal communication and responsible behavior.

Students develop their ability to:

  • Engage in narrative structure and character analysis (ELA: RL.1–5, W.3)
  • Apply math reasoning in real-world contexts (Math: 1.OA–5.MD)
  • Use spatial awareness and geography skills through maps and movement (Social Studies: HSS 3.1, 4.1)
  • Build oral communication and listening comprehension (ELA: SL.1–5)
  • Practice teamwork, empathy, and decision-making in a safe, imaginative setting

This program is an ideal enrichment offering for homeschool families seeking highly engaging, standards-aligned learning that supports both academic growth and social development—it’s school without feeling like school.
